Community Events

Taking our mission beyond the stage and into the communities we serve.

To Proudly Go believes community is built by showing up. Through our Community Events Program, we participate in conventions, Pride celebrations, fan gatherings, and other special events that allow us to bring our mission directly to LGBTQIA+ people, science-fiction fans, allies, and the broader community.

Our community appearances take many forms. At conventions and festivals, To Proudly Go hosts community tables where attendees can meet our volunteers and performers, learn about our programs and charitable work, purchase merchandise, and discover ways to get involved. Since our first Flame Con appearance, these tables have provided an important opportunity to introduce To Proudly Go to new audiences and build lasting connections within the queer geek community.

Performance is another important part of our community presence. Our signature Live Proud and Prosper drag shows bring together science fiction, drag artistry, cosplay, and LGBTQIA+ identity to celebrate the inclusive and hopeful future that inspires our work. From the main stage at Flame Con to multiple appearances at Trek Long Island, our performers have brought queer visibility into fan spaces while demonstrating how creativity and fandom can create opportunities for connection and belonging. The program has continued to grow: at Trek Long Island 2026, To Proudly Go presented both a main-stage Live Proud and Prosper show expanding our convention programming through drag, cosplay, music, and audience participation.

Our community engagement also extends beyond science-fiction conventions. To Proudly Go has proudly participated in Brooklyn Pride, bringing together members, performers, volunteers, and supporters to celebrate LGBTQIA+ pride and visibility. These appearances reflect our commitment to creating community not only within fandom, but throughout the broader LGBTQIA+ community.

Together, these events allow To Proudly Go to meet new communities, strengthen partnerships, increase LGBTQIA+ visibility, share our charitable mission, and create welcoming spaces where people can connect through common interests and shared values. As our annual reports demonstrate, convention and community engagement has grown into an important part of how we extend our reach beyond our own programming.

Whether we're behind a community table, marching in Pride, or taking over a convention stage, our purpose remains the same: to create spaces where fandom inspires connection, diversity is celebrated, and everyone is encouraged to Live Proud and Prosper.
